Abstract

In recent years, “geotour” has been attracting attention as a new form of tourism. Geotour is a form of tourism that allows visitors to learn about the history of the land and its associated history by visiting naturally occurring landforms and landscapes that exist only in a specific area. In a geotour for the ever-changing natural landscape, the landscape that the guide wants to show and the landscape that will be shown on the day of the tour may be different. Although the guide explains the differences using oral and photographic materials, it is difficult for the participants to understand the differences, and the explanation is also difficult to leave a lasting impression. Moreover, in the actual geotour, participants sometimes miss the oral explanations of the guides. Therefore, we have developed a geotour support system called “Docogeo.” In this paper, we conducted an experiment in a real geotour to verify the effect of Docogeo. From the results of the experiment, we confirmed that the explanation of the guides using Docogeo made a good impression on the participants, and each function of Docogeo contributed to the understanding of the explanation and the improvement of the attractiveness of the geotour.
